Discovering the Vaults in Fallout 4: A Comprehensive Guide to What you Find inside - GAMINGDEPUTY (2024)

Vaults already existed in the first part of the Fallout series. You can discover five of them in Fallout 4. Each bunker has its own story – but the reason for these vaults is always the same. The US government commissioned Vault-Tec Industries to build bunkers to protect part of the American population from a nuclear disaster.
Caution: Some Fallout 4 Vault lore may contain spoilers!

However, as the Fallout series progresses, the player realizes that this is not the only reason why the company had these vaults built. This Guide should show you where you can find all the vaults can. We also explain here what you can find in the bunkers.

Fallout 4 – These vaults exist in the role-playing game

You already know a vault because you start the game in it. He calls himself Vault 111. In addition to him, there are five others:

Vault 75Vault 81Vault 95Vault 114Vault 118At Fallout 4 DLC Far Harbor you can discover another vault. You can find its location and the story further down in the text.

So if you're wondering now: How many vaults are there?, we can only say: There are five in the fourth part of the Fallot series. But overall there are over 120which are either found in other parts of the game or were first planned and then canceled. All Vaults you can find it here:

You can find one in almost every bunker in Fallout 4 Vault suit. It serves you at the beginning to mitigate some damage. However, if you find a better suit, it would be a good idea to swap the Vault suit for one.

The Vaults have no specific names and always end with one number. If you look at all the vaults from the previous Fallout games at a glance, they result in (almost) consecutive number. It starts at 0 and ends at 114 in Fallout 4.

Vault 75: Access only to those under 18 years of age

You can find this bunker directly under the Malden Middle School. Vault 75 provides a bunker for Children and adolescents. With the help of hormone treatments, genetic modifications and test routes, young people should be made stronger and more intelligent people.

After the war broke out, the children were separated from their parents and taken to Vault 75. The adults were often shot. After reaching the age of 18, the children were “disposed of” in an unspecified manner.

If there was a lack of scientific staff, some adolescents could be recruited. This is what you will find in this Fallout 4 vault:

The 81st bunker is located west of Diamond City. To get in here, you need to take three fusion cores with you. You can read about where you get these fusion cores here. This vault was used to research antibodies for diseases associated with Mutations in the presence of heavy atomic radiation.

There was a scientific part and a level III wing in which the residents had to serve as guinea pigs for the experiments. This vault could only be evacuated with direct instructions from Vault-Tec Industries. In this case, the warden should burn the residents.

You can find these items in the 81st bunker of all Fallout 4 vaults:

You will also find a hairdresser in this vault where you can try out additional hairstyles for 15 caps.

Vault 95: Chem addicts this way

The post-apocalypse adventure Fallout 4 also includes Chems, i.e. drugs. If you take them, you can become addicted. Even before the war that resulted in the atomic bomb, 95 chem addicts were housed in the Vault.

The scientific staff wanted to observe them in an isolated bunker and the Effects of drugs monitor. Vault 95 was actually supposed to play a role in Fallout 3, but was canceled and moved to Fallout 4 for unknown reasons.

Here you can find the following items:

Known as cryostasis, the staff tested whether people could survive in the cold for an extended period of time. However, the experiment had to be stopped and actually ended with the evacuation after over 180 days.

In Vault 111 you will find:

So um To enter Vault 111you just have to go to the nearby house and look for one red button press. After that nothing happens. Just go to the vault hatch and go down.

Vault 114: Upper layer in stressful situations

The 114th bunker served as a stress test for the upper population class. It was advertised as very luxurious – but the opposite was the case. The social experiment was intended to show how the “nobility” copes in a poor environment.

The employees wanted to investigate how the upper layer got through Taking away luxury reacts and thus specifically puts them in stressful situations. There was a leader, but he was anti-authoritarian. This made it possible to observe how the nobility behaved without leadership.

To find Vault 114, you have to go through Park Street Station. You can find the entrance at the one nearby Construction site. You can find these items here:

New Vault 118 in the Far Harbor DLC

In a quest called Brain dead As a detective you have to solve a murder case on Far Harbor. This one takes place in Vault 118, which you gain access to through a DLC. This is a vault that was not completed properly. Of course there should be one here too Vault-Tec experiment take place, which, however, did not begin due to the nuclear accident. You can find Vault 118 directly at Cliff's Hoteljust west of Far Harbor.

This is how you find the vault:

After you reach Acadia, you can talk to a robot named Pearl. She asks you if you want to investigate a murder case as a detective. For this case you have to go to Vault 118. Decide whether you want to travel there with Pearl or go to the hotel alone. If you walk to the hotel with Pearl, you have to go there first destroy a few ghouls. It leads you through the building to red doors behind which there is a console that gives you access to the vault. The rest of the quest takes place in the vault, so you can read through some documents and track down the murderer.

If you walk through the hotel without Pearl, you will find out in this Video, how to get to the vault:

The background of Vault 118

Vault-Tec also had one again with this vault experiment before. So people from the rich and poor classes should be housed here to see what happens when the two classes meet. So each class should have a special wing in this special vault hotel. The “rich wing” could still be completed. After that, however, the war began, which is why the last section of the vault is unfinished. At the time of the fall of the atomic bomb, however, the experimental hotel became a kind of shelter for the inmates who had already moved in. These were wealthy residents of the Commonwealth. Actors, artists, scientists and business tycoons lived here.

In addition to the inmates, there was one overseer, whose key you will also find while exploring Vault 118. He committed suicide after the residents and scientists agreed to plant their brains in robots and drive him insane. Accordingly, you will only find robots in the vault.

You can find one in Vault 118 Beach with water. This contains no radiation. However, if you fill it up, it ends up in your inventory as dirty water. If you are playing in survival mode, you should know that there is a bed here that you can use to save.

With this Loot you can calculate here:
