No doubt semaglutide, a novel GLP-1 agonist, is associated with a number of favorable effects including cardiorenal benefits. But its use also should be cautious. Since it is used to manage type 2 diabetes and obesity, theoretically semaglutide should be used lifelong. I am a practicing physician who took the drug and could not continue it more than a few months maximum because of number of gastrointestinal adverse effects.
